Garlic !!! good or bad for your dogs??
Hey guys, i have noticed on here that there is a negative response to feeding your dogs garlic.
I feed jack garlic treats and he loves them i have family that feed there dogs garlic supplements :S .
Now i got a bit worried when everyone said that dogs should not have garlic so i asked my vet which said that dogs can have garlic but cats can't.
whats everyones opinion to this because no one knows whether its ok lol

good in moderation, i give garlic tablets (when i remember to!) to all of mine as fleas dont like the taste of garlic and it secretes into the skin and blood so it keeps them away

Supposedly good with fleas but is related to the onion and can be deadly if they eat too much. No idea how much, but I think it has to be quite a large quantity.
I admit I don't feed any garlic at all. Rupert has a few belly troubles and I just wouldn't want to give him anything vaguely not OK because he is more likely than normal dogs to have adverse affects I would think.
Its quite a lot they need to get ill from it I think...

Jack has a sensitive tummy too lol poor boy had a rather nasty stomach bug from where we got him that wasnt picked up until he was 4 months think its done quite some damage to his tummy.
have to really watch what he eats now and finding a diet to suit him was really difficult and now hes moving to adult food we have had to start all over again. but chicken cooked in garlic made an excellent treat especially with his recall (which he is still learning) as he loves it
Anyway it doesn't seem to affect him, was just worried that i was poisoning him lol
