Number Two's Empty Number Two's

Post by James_Kita Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:23 pm

Kita over the last couple of days has started doing her Business in the back living room =\.

On tuesday morning I woke up and found a couple of piles there.

Then I was informed while I was at work, she went again in the backroom, even though she had been let out a couple of times by my sister who was there.

No accidents wednesday but I did keep the backroom door shut that night and nothing during the day.

Last night I woke up at 4, to find another poo in the backroom quite a runny one this time to.

I don't know whether she goes there, because she thinks she can, or simply because she cannot hold it long enough at night (though she's been really good up until recently, with only 1 accident all of last month)

She's 6 months old.

I can't have her in my room atm as I'm crashing on the Sofa at my rents til I get everything back from the Flat I used to live in. but she does sleep in the front living room with me, Though I do leave the door open as she likes to sleep in the kitchen as well as its much cooler.

I may have to go with the Crate training though, I'll see if there any improvement If i keep the backroom door shut, until the end of the weekend.

Thanks Sid Smile

Can I ask exactly what time her walks are?

Rupert started toileting in the night at a little older than Kita having been clean since he came home or thereabouts. Not only did I crate train him, but I began a walking regime where he got a short brisk walk then let in the garden purely to poop.

At 6 months I guess she is fed twice a day is that right? So that ought to mean two poos I would think. It would help get her body into the swing of exactly what its meant to do and at what time. Exercise stimulates the bowel and it worked fantastically for us.

Can I ask how runny her poop was, just a bit soft or something you'd need a bit of kitchen roll to clean up with as opposed to just a poop bag? I know its graphic but this is a poop thread lol!

I am quite an expert on poop I can tell you mod gun

ETA: Just checked the food thread and saw you feed James Wellbeloved. They have been known to produce runny poops in some dogs, they did in Rupert so I had to switch him over (he came on that food as a puppy). If she hasn't been on it too long she might still be settling on to it or could have eaten something duff in the garden. Anymore runny poos and its worth a look at her diet though just to be sure, lots can't tolerate rice etc Smile

she does not poo on walks -_-'

When on a long walk down bramford yesterday, then walked back from bramford to ipswich, got in had some drink and abit of food, then I took her into the garden, waited there for a gd 5-10 mins, nothing.... Closed the backroom door, went to sleep...... Turns out she's worked out how to open the damn door and done it again today! >_<.

I Just don't understand how she can be fine all last month and then be this bad in the 1st week of june :-S.

I may well have to crate train her ^_^

She is only 6 months old Hun, give her some leaway. It sometimes takes pups up to a year to potty train. The other day when Angel visited Storm peed on the carpet and I mean proper niagara falls, not a tiddle!!!!!!! Shocked And he has been dry for months and months.

Thanks Louise, I think your right, I'm over-reacting ^_^

its easy to forget she's still very young, and like Flo said she has just changed foods, so that can't be helping.

I do need to stop her doing it in the backroom though as its a carpet and it will get ruined, Ideally she would do it in the kitchen which is tiled thus making it far easier to clean up.

I don't mean poo on a walk, Rupert would never do that either Wink

Taking them for a short brisk walk stimulates the bowel so when you let them out in the garden at home they feel they need to go more. I know lots of people who have had fantastic results with it. By short and brisk I mean dog needs to be moving a trot consistently for about 10-20 mins or so, it works great for Rupert.

Are her feed times regular? Her body clock will get the hang of it eventually, maybe the lighter mornings etc have thrown her a bit Smile

You don't want to crate train her in that dogs don't poop in their crate, I used it because Rupert was very restless on his own and it helped him settle and sleep which also meant he wasn't waking up and stressing himself then pooping. If she is just needing to go in the night being in a crate and trying to hold it so as not to soil her bed could stress her out a bit more. A crate is something to use along side toilet training but its good to look at any other causes first Smile

TBF she did eat a sausage that my dad decided to leave in her bowl as we walked in the door -_-

It can be hard and it wont work for them all but poop troubles are frustrating so most things are worth a go!

If you are able to spot roughly when she normally tends to go, take her out 5 mins before that time and literally get her to trot along at your side for 10 mins or so, then let her out into the garden on her own with no toys or anything and lay in wait. Hopefully you can run out squealing with excitement not long after at her pooping Laughing

Rupert used to go about two hours after his meal both in the morning and at night. I found in particular an evening walk helped empty his bowel before bed so even if he was awake and a bit restless there wasn't much if anything there. Its hard though, when you know they can do it just need to get the timings etc sorted!

So many people are like oh my puppy was clean in the night from 8 weeks old when they came home, I'm not sure I believe that any more, they must have superpuppies lol!

She tends to go anytime between 4am and 7am I THINK, I'm asleep when it happens so its hard to gauge how long the poop has been there -_-.

I'll see how it goes over the weekend ^_^

She's done great this weekend Very Happy thanks for asking Smile

except for one incident, though she proved she just preferes to go in the backroom the little princess! -_-

I left the back garden door open and the backroom door open, where did she choose to do her business? you guessed it the backroom.

If the door is firmly shut, she holds it or lets us know she needs to go.

I wasn't here last night, but she woke my mum up at 5 to let her out Smile

No accidents friday either

and my mum took her out last night while I was away and she pooed on a walk! :O

Thanks for your help Smile

Ahh well done, she definitely can do it and knows what to do then, just getting it right all the time now Smile

Rupert did his first poop on lead in January at 2.5 years old, before then he had NEVER and would NEVER poop on lead but we were walking back from the vets after his sedation for a blood test and he just couldn't hold it. Aside from that he doesn't tend to go on walks either, funny things aren't they!!
