Rupert's been poorly :(
Noticed a rash on Friday in his groin area. Cut some fur off and people I knew said leave it see how he goes. Got worse Saturday and turns out Mum hadn't let him out that morning when I was in bed so he hadn't been for a pee since 5pm and a poop since the morning before (this was midday).
Rang vets as rash was worse and had to take him in under emergency hours. He's got a bad case of wet dermatitis. Needed steroid shot and so I made the decision to have him blood allergy tested yesterday (sample has been sent off to Holland or will be). With steroids you have to wait 4-6 weeks for them to be out of the dog's system to do any allergy testing and if allergy related I would expect him to have more flair ups within the next 4-6 weeks, his issues normally do come one after the other then suddenly stop.
When trying to take blood he got very nervous and did a gigantic wee, poor thing he was covered in it
I asked for them to sedate him, could have avoided taking the blood etc and done it another time in a month or two if he was clear of steroids but he got so upset when a previous vet tried to do it that I decided I'd rather have him go through it all on one day save him going back in a month or two and having similar stress levels.
I think its an issue of people crowding round him at his level, he just gets very nervous. Old vet grabbed him by the scruff and forced him to stand (and accused him of biting, lying bugger I was there..!) and so I think this will be a forever problem sadly.
He was terrible last night, especially the first hour and a half when I got him home. Running around the house crying, then suddenly falling to the floor growling and writhing about
He is a bit irritable today but seems better and his rash is a bit less sore. He has steroid gel to apply twice daily and antibiotics daily too.

Thanks. Had to say I can't do my volunteer work today as I thought he'd be a bit better but he's still awfully fidgety and cuddly crying if I go out even in the garden without him. He might bust his buster collar if I'm out too I wouldn't trust him.
