Because the district nurses have messed up Mad Mad Mad

Going up at 7pm to take her some stuff and visit, so angry! The consultant said last time that he was worried about just one toe (three weeks ago) now he's worried about all five on one foot! She is diabetic and has a diabetic ulcer on her leg. The nurses were bandaging it wrong and last time the consultant said they needed to do it looser, with less layers and let it be aired for a good hour each day (they were coming every day to change it).

Anyway Nana went for her appt today at the hospital and the consultant said he was absolutely disgusted that the district nurses have let her leg get this bad and not told anybody. He said he wont be able to sleep at night if he lets her go home so she has to stay in Crying or Very sad

Looks like she might even lose her whole foot now if her heel gets any worse too.

So cross the hospital and nurses don't seem to be communicating or the nurses doing as they are told, one of the two! Nana has a care plan folder the nurses check every day and the consultant said there is no reason for them doing it as wrongly as they have Crying or Very sad

Last night was BAD.

Nana is in her own room, not great and struggling hugely to walk with her stick. Asked about a zimmer frame but looks unlikely as only physio dept can give them out Sad

Went to check on Papa. Mum and uncle ended up fighting (uncle lives there rent free, does nothing, Nana and Papa rant about him all the time but are too nice to boot him out). Mum asked uncle if he could help check the rabbit's water etc as Papa can't see if there is much in there very well. He went beserk. Ended up grabbing her by the throat and shoving her so she fell into a chair. She threatened to call police he was all in her face go on then I dare you then see what happens to you etc.

Didn't call police but another uncle was on phone to Papa and came round. Angry uncle we all hate now, such a barsteward. We're seriously thinking of contacting an organisation for vulnerable adults stuck with abusive/intimidating relatives, we saw a poster for it in the hospital.

Just so cross with him. Mum bought him a dog in Feb as his choc lab died last year. He was screaming pointing at him going you can have that effing back its sh*t I want a chocolate lab Rolling Eyes

Just Mad

I don't think we've ever had anything like that happen before Crying or Very sad

Dunno much about Nana really. She doesn't seem great and they have no idea how long she might be in, its just wait and see. I think she'll have at least six visitors up to see her later. The hospital said if people are in more than 2 weeks the chances of MRSA are really quite high and at her age MRSA could kill her very easily Sad

Think that's why she's in her own room not with other people?

Nana has got gangrene Crying or Very sad

Mum had to go so couldn't say more but I'm guessing this at least means losing toes. Whilst not disastrous, their house is no way clean enough for her to go into when healing and she isn't strong enough to her herself around in a wheelchair plus none of house is wheelchair friendly Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Got that horrid git of an uncle living there too.

Probably, yeah. Mum and aunts want to put in a complaint so that the people who should have told the consultant it was getting worse get a black mark by the name. People in every job get a warning or a notice etc, and to be fair Nana is nearly 85 I think, she is nearing the end of her life. But imagine if this was someone who was 40 or 60?! There'd have years left to face without a limb Crying or Very sad

No one wants money they just want to know who didn't do as they should and to ensure they wont do it again.

Got Nana's Care Plan back now to scan and back up on USB in case it goes 'missing' Rolling Eyes

She seems OK but is a bit grumpy wanting to come home, she got told she might need her foot of but seems to have forgotten and thinks she might need a toe or two and that's it Shocked
